Amiibo can also be used in Splatoon 2 to unlock new gear that is only available by using the Amiibo while playing the game.

Inkling Girl (Neon Pink): Squid Clip-ons, School Cardigan, and Fringed Loafers.

Inkling boy (Neon Green): Squinja Mask, Squinja Suit, and Squinja Shoes.

The Amiibo of Off the Hook grant players access to their own versions of Pearl and Marina's outfits seen in the Octo Expansion, with Pearl's dubbed the Pearlescent Crown, Hoodie, and Kicks, and Marina's dubbed the Marinated Headphones, Top, and Slip-Ons. Also, photos can be taken with Pearl and Marina in either their regular stage attire or their casual wear from the Octo Expansion. During Splatfests, if the Off the Hook Amiibo are used for photo ops, they can be taken up on the stage where Off the Hook perform during the Splatfests.

The Squid Sisters Amiibo grant access to the base and upgraded Hero Armor from the first Splatoon, and using the Inkling Girl, Boy, and Squid from Splatoon grant access to the gear that was only available by completing their challenges in Splatoon first.

Several months after the release of the Octo Expansion, Amiibo of Agent 8 became available for purchase. The package contains three Amiibo: Male Agent 8, Female Agent 8, and their Octopus form. All three unlock additional gear sets similar to using the Off the Hook or Squid Sisters Amiibo in Splatoon 2, with the Gear unlocked by the male and female Agent 8 Amiibo being the theme of the March 2019 Splatfest, Knights vs Wizards.

All Gear unlocked by the Amiibo are two stars on their rarity. When the Amiibo are first used, only the headgear is given once the player agrees to use the Amiibo to keep track of their data. The body and footwear have to be earned through winning at least ten multiplayer matches each before the Amiibo will grant them to the player to have a complete set.

Splatoon 3[]

3 Amiibos have been released. All previous Amiibos are available to use, however, you must first reach level 4 and win 10 battles. As a bonus, any Amiibo that were used at least once with Splatoon 2 will remember the player if the Splatoon 2 data was brought over to Splatoon 3, and will award all Amiibo gear they possess at once, rather than one at a time for each 10 battles won. This includes Amiibo like the Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, Agent 8, and more. Amiibo for Deep Cut were released on November 17th, 2023, and like the Squid Sisters and Off The Hook, award personalized gear to players based on Shiver, Frye, and Big Man's default looks, including their masks from the single-player campaign.
